Psychometrist
Alex Laugher is a psychometrist at Brookside Therapy & Assessments, where he assists with adult psychological and neuropsychological assessments. His services are provided under the supervision of registered psychologists at Brookside and are covered under his supervisor’s registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.
In his role as a psychometrist, Alex supports the assessment process by:
administering standardized psychological and cognitive measures
supporting test scoring and data integrity
assisting supervising psychologists with comprehensive adult assessments
All assessment services are conducted under direct supervision and integrated into reports authored by registered psychologists.
Alex is completing the final year of his Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Brock University, where he has received the Dean’s Honours List Award in Years 1, 2, and 3 of his program. He plans to pursue graduate training in psychology.
He has received formal training in psychological and cognitive testing at Brookside Therapy & Assessments under the supervision of Dr. Lesley Miller, Clinical Psychologist & Neuropsychologist.
In addition to his work at Brookside, Alex volunteers as a Research Assistant in the Comparative Behavioural Neuroscience Lab at Brock University. He previously served as a Committee Member and Researcher at Community Addiction Services of Niagara (CASON), where he contributed to the Persons with Lived and Living Experience Survey.
Prior to joining Brookside, Alex worked as a Community Health Worker in Youth Outreach at Quest Community Health Centre in Niagara. In this role, he supported youth experiencing homelessness, substance use, mental health concerns, and sexual and gender identity-related stressors. Through Quest, he also supported individuals presenting to the Emergency Department at St. Catharines General Hospital and Greater Niagara General Hospital.
Alex has also worked as an Addictions Peer Support Worker with Community Addiction Services of Niagara, in partnership with McMaster Children’s Hospital, supporting youth admitted to inpatient mental health units for substance use and concurrent disorders.
