Supervised Therapist (Adults, Teens) - St. Catherines & Online
Alex Laugher is a supervised therapist and psychometrist at Brookside Therapy & Assessments, where he provides therapy and psychological testing to adults and older teens under supervision. He is trained and experienced in providing mental health support and advocacy and dialectic behaviour therapy skills training to young adults and older teens presenting with complex mental health issues, substance use, and sexual and gender identity-related stressors.
Alex is completing the final year of his Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Brock University, where he has received the Dean’s Honours List Award in Years 1, 2, and 3 of his program. He plans to pursue graduate training in clinical psychology.
He has received formal training in psychotherapy and psychological and cognitive testing at Brookside Therapy & Assessments under the supervision of Dr. Lesley Miller, Clinical Psychologist & Neuropsychologist.
In addition to his work at Brookside, Alex volunteers as a Research Assistant in the Comparative Behavioural Neuroscience Lab at Brock University. He previously served as a Committee Member and Researcher at Community Addiction Services of Niagara (CASON), where he contributed to the Persons with Lived and Living Experience Survey.
Prior to joining Brookside, Alex worked as a Community Health Worker in Youth Outreach at Quest Community Health Centre in Niagara. In this role, he supported youth experiencing homelessness, substance use, mental health concerns, and sexual and gender identity-related stressors. Through Quest, he also supported individuals presenting to the Emergency Department at St. Catharines General Hospital and Greater Niagara General Hospital.
Alex has also worked as an Addictions Peer Support Worker with Community Addiction Services of Niagara, in partnership with McMaster Children’s Hospital, supporting youth admitted to inpatient mental health units for substance use and concurrent disorders.
