Ms. Mete is a registered psychotherapist located at our St. Catharines office. She provides psychotherapy to older teens, adults, and seniors presenting with anxiety, depression, trauma histories, chronic pain, and relationship issues. Her educational credentials include a BSc in Psychology from Carleton University and a MSc in Clinical Mental Health Counselling from Niagara University.
Ms. Mete has extensive experience providing evidence-based therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, and brief solution-focused therapy. She also is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and has completed training on Ego State and Internal Family Systems modalities. Ms. Mete has worked with individuals who presented with a variety of concerns including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, chronic illness, and eating disorders.
She has worked with Brookside Psychologists since the fall of 2019. She has seven years experience providing assessment and psychotherapy to individuals and groups, including individuals with chronic illness and complex mental health, within the community health environment in the Niagara Region. During her masters program, she completed psychotherapy internships within hospital and university settings.
Ms. Mete is also a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (CCPA).
In addition to her mental health training, Ms. Mete completed her doctoral degree in Leadership and Policy at Niagara University. She is presently a member of the IN Communities Board of Directors and is also a volunteer International Research Fellow with Young Minds Malaysia, a non-profit organization that promotes mental health amongst Malaysian youth.
At present, Ms. Mete is a Faculty member and Course Lead at Yorkville University within the Counselling Psychology program. She also teaches for City University of Seattle in Canada for their virtual Masters of Counselling program.
Ms. Mete facilitates a collaborative and client-centered approach that incorporates empowerment, self-care, and self-compassion. She supports her clients to develop skills and strategies that are both creative and practical.
