Practicum Student (Children 10+, Teens, Adults) St. Catharines & Online
Mr. David Sider is a Master’s level practicum student and a qualifying registered psychotherapist working under the supervision of psychologist, Dr. Jean Dennis, at our St. Catharines office. He provides psychotherapy to children (10+), teens, and adults presenting with anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, addictions, self-harm, ADHD, personality disorders, chronic pain, and relationship issues. In his work, he provides a variety of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), experiential therapy, and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) skills training.
Mr. Sider completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Brock University. Currently, he is completing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and is a student member of the Canadian Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (CPCA).
With over 13 years in community mental health organizations, David has experience working with individuals of all ages in different capacities. Most of his professional work experience has been with teens, adults, and seniors. He has worked for the Oak Centre Clubhouse in Welland and currently works for the Canadian Mental Health Association – Niagara Branch as a Community Support Worker. For 11 years, Mr. Sider lived in Kingston, Ontario, where he worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness rediscover themselves and what they value, while focusing on coping strategies, and making personal changes to obtain their holistic goals.
